Alexisonfire - Old Crows/Young Cardinals (2009) Review
i read somewhere that a reviewer believed this would be the band's breakthrough album in the States...well he could be right! Canada's indie sweethearts have taken the best elements from their previous studio efforts in order to make the most mature album of their career thus far. Although not their best effort thus far as their breakthrough album Watch Out! from 2004 still holds that title. however, this album comes damn near close! the band is spot on with Dallas and George sharing vocal duties with perfect harmonies! for me, the stand out tracks are "Old Crows", "Young Cardinals", "Born and Raised", "Emerald Street", "Accept Crime" and "Heading to for the Sun". the only song i wasn't feeling was "The Northern" which felt a bit off and misplaced on the album that had so many killer tunes. as for my rating? i give it 9 skull hearts out of 10 as this album is just kick ass and delivered by a band who has matured to the point that they know what works for them best...oh! and if this album doesn't break them into the mainstream in the States like they are in Canada, this album will full sure strengthen their growing fan base there, here and all over the world as the biggest indie band on the planet today, i my honest opinion.
